Outreach Week 2016

Thank you to every one who was involved! Here is an email sent by Neil (the OpenGate team leader) to the local churches with his summary of the week:

Hi all,

As many of you know, we have just completed a week of outreach in the South Region (which, as an aside, becoming known as OpenGate Churches). A few people have asked how things went and, having had a day or so to reflect, it seemed that the easiest way to do so was to email this group.

The bare facts: we welcomed a team from Reading for the week. Every evening we had an encounter evening; and every morning we did a training session and went out on the streets. Each day we went to a different one of our locations, and on Saturday we went out in all of them. Over that time we saw at least 170 people pray (on the streets) to ask Jesus into the lives, the vast majority for the first time. Of those, around 60-70% provided follow details.

Obviously the big next step for is is follow up, and each of the churches has a follow up co-ordinator.

We are celebrating the 170! We are also celebrating the fact that the good majority of the 170 were led through the prayer by 'normal' people from our churches. In the most wonderful way, it has been a delight to see 'everyday' members of our churches gain experience the joy of leading people to the Lord and gain confidence in the real power, and attractiveness, of the simple gospel.

    God bless,

     Neil

The outreach continues, please see this page for details. Below you will find, for those that are interested, the schedule for the week and where we were.

From the 18th to the 24th of September 2016 we will be having a week of outreach across the OpenGate churches. The heart of this outreach is encountering God and sharing his love with those we then meet on the streets of our towns: the encounter evenings are crucial to the week. That's why there are lots of them!

No matter which church you are from, you are welcome to join us in any of the locations, we simply ask that you have done the training and come to an encounter evening beforehand. (If you are unable to attend the morning training please let us know (outreach2016@opengatecc.net) as we can arrange for a short training session before the evening encounter meeting.)

Each evening
  • 7:30pm Encounter meeting.
Each day
  • 10:00 - 11:00 Training and Worship
  • 11:15 - 12:30 Outreach on the streets and feedback
  • 12:30 - 1:30 Lunch
  • 1:30 - 2:45 Outreach on the streets and feedback
Tuesday 20th
  • 6:45pm Extra training session before the encounter meeting for those who cannot make the morning training.
